TomatoRTC

Every deployment requires a platform license.

TomatoRTC is licensed software — self-managed and managed offerings both require an active platform license. You choose who operates the cloud infrastructure: your team (self-managed) or TomatoRTC (managed). Figures below are illustrative scoping guidance, not a public price sheet.

License required Self-managed or managed No per-minute platform tax

Two deployment paths

Same license. Different operator.

Both paths grant the right to run TomatoRTC in production under your tier entitlements. Neither path includes STT/LLM provider fees, customer application hosting, or end-user support — only the TomatoRTC platform layer.

License is not optional. Eval/pilot licenses are time-boxed; production traffic requires a paid Starter, Business, or Enterprise license on either path.

Self-managed

Monthly ≈ (license / 12) + cloud infra You operate signaling, SFU, TURN, upgrades

  • Full source access under license terms
  • Customer AWS/GCP/Azure account and billing
  • Best for teams with platform engineering in-house

Managed solution

Monthly ≈ (license / 12) + infra + ops fee TomatoRTC operates the media plane for you

  • Same license entitlements as self-managed tier
  • Infra pass-through at cost + predictable management fee
  • Best when you want integration ownership without 24/7 ops
Note

Self-managed example (Business): $84k license = $7k/mo + ~$3.4k infra = ~$10.4k/mo. Managed adds $6.5k/mo ops fee at Business tier → ~$16.9k/mo. Enterprise and multi-region quoted separately.

License tiers

Three license tiers — required for self-managed and managed.

Annual platform license includes source access, release train, security patches, and tier-appropriate support. CCU (concurrent participants) is the primary capacity dimension. Managed customers pay the same license tier plus infra and ops — not a separate product SKU.

Starter

$28k / year
  • $2.33k/mo license amortized
  • Up to 250 CCU, 1 region, 2 environments
  • Email support · 48h SLA
  • Ops fee (if managed): from $3.5k/mo

Business

$84k / year
  • $7k/mo license amortized
  • Up to 2,500 CCU (burst 4k), 3 regions
  • Priority support · 99.5% SLA option
  • Ops fee (if managed): from $6.5k/mo

Enterprise

$220k+ / year floor
  • $18.3k/mo license amortized (floor)
  • 10k+ CCU, unlimited regions, dedicated TAM
  • 99.9% SLA · on-prem / air-gap option
  • Ops fee (if managed): from $12k/mo
Note

Multi-year prepay discounts 10–15% typical. Design-partner eval licenses available — still a license, time-boxed for pilot scope. No production use without active license on either deployment path.

*Enterprise unlimited subject to fair-use review. First-party integrated SFU (Selective Forwarding Unit) is evaluation/pilot — not a universal production guarantee. Native SDK signaling foundations ship; media parity and packaging vary by platform.

Cloud infrastructure

Infra is separate from license — on both paths.

Signaling, SFU, TURN, and observability run on your cloud (self-managed) or are pass-through billed (managed). Estimates use AWS us-east-1 list pricing, SFU topology, 720p + Opus, ~30% TURN relay.

$550 Small · 50 CCU

t3.large + c6i.xlarge + c6i.large

$3.4k Medium · 500 CCU

HA signaling, 2× SFU, 2× TURN, Redis/PG

$22k Large · 5k CCU

Autoscale SFU pool, TURN fleet, observability

Multi-region: ~2.5× (small), ~2.8× (medium), ~2.6× (large) — not flat 3× due to shared control-plane options and regional CCU split.

Note

Sizing basis per our capacity planning guide. TURN (Traversal Using Relays around NAT)-heavy relay-only deployments can 2–4× egress. STT/LLM API costs are customer/provider spend, not included in license or infra estimates.

Total cost of ownership

License + infra (+ ops if managed).

At ~500 CCU Business scale, cumulative spend crosses typical hosted RTC per-minute curves as usage grows — because TomatoRTC license is flat while hosted fees scale with participant-minutes.

  • Self-managed $7k/mo license + $3.4k/mo infra (single region medium)
  • Managed above + $6.5k/mo ops fee — we run upgrades, monitoring, incident response
  • Hosted RTC ~$0.004/participant-minute at comparable quality (illustrative)
Managed (Business)
$7k license + $3.4k infra + $6.5k ops = ~$16.9k/mo
Self-managed (Business)
$7k license + $3.4k infra = ~$10.4k/mo — same license, you operate.

Note

TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) chart assumes Business license, medium single-region infra growing 2%/mo, hosted usage ramping 200k→900k participant-minutes/mo at $0.004/pm. All three lines include platform license — managed adds ops fee throughout.

Add-ons

Expansion beyond base license tier.

Extra region

+$18k/yr license add-on + regional infra. Managed: +$1.2k/mo regional ops fee.

CCU burst pack

+$12k/yr per +1,000 sustained CCU (Business+). Infra autoscales at usage.

AI worker slots

+$6k/yr per +10 supervised workers. STT/LLM remains BYO provider.

Premium support

+$24k/yr — 1h SLA, dedicated Slack, quarterly architecture review.

Compliance package

+$35k/yr — SOC 2 evidence kit, hardened templates, pen-test coordination. See certification readiness deck.

Migration SOW

Twilio Video / Vonage / legacy CPaaS: $40k–$120k fixed scope.
